Νέα συγκλονιστικά γεγονότα που δείχνουν την κρισιμότητα της παγκόσμιας κατάστασης όσων αφορά στην κλιματική αλλαγή έρχονται από τη Νιγηρία.
Συγκεκριμένα, περισσότεροι από 1,4 εκατ. άνθρωποι έχουν εκτοπιστεί και περίπου 500 άνθρωποι έχουν χάσει τη ζωή τους σε μερικές από τις χειρότερες πλημμύρες που έχει δει η Νιγηρία εδώ και μια δεκαετία, δήλωσε το υπουργείο Ανθρωπιστικής Βοήθειας της χώρας.
Όπως εγινε γνωστό, πριν από μερικές ημέρες, «πάνω από 1,4 εκατομμύρια άτομα είχαν εκτοπιστεί, περίπου 500 άτομα έχουν χάσει τη ζωή τους, 790.254 άτομα μετακινήθηκαν από τις τοποθεσίες τους και 1.546 άτομα τραυματίστηκαν», ανέφερε σε ανακοίνωσή του ο Νασίρ Σάνι-Γκάρζο, μόνιμος γραμματέας του Υπουργείου Ανθρωπιστικών Υποθέσεων, Διαχείρισης Καταστροφών και Κοινωνικής Ανάπτυξης.
Στην ανακοίνωση προστίθεται ότι «45.249 σπίτια υπέστησαν ολοκληρωτικές ζημιές, 76.168 εκτάρια (περίπου 761.680 στρέμματα) καλλιεργήσιμων εκτάσεων καταστράφηκαν μερικώς και 70.566 εκτάρια καλλιεργήσιμων εκτάσεων (περίπου 705.660 στρέμματα) καταστράφηκαν ολοσχερώς».
